Welcome to Dar 91, a trio of private, serviced apartments in the old medina (walled town) of Essaouira, on Morocco’s wild and beautiful Atlantic coast.

Dar 91 is a renovated, 18th century watchtower in Chbanat, a traditional neighbourhood on the eastern edge of the medina, easily accessed via Bab Doukkala and Bab Marrakech. It’s a 5-minute stroll to the souks and 10-15 minutes to the beach and harbour.

The apartments are quirky, full of character and original works by local artists and artisans, as well as home comforts including fast wifi. Each is self-contained and can be rented all year round, for short breaks, holidays or longer stays. Apartments 1 (Wahed) and 2 (Zhuzh) have their own roof terraces with stunning views across the medina rooftops.

We’ve welcomed guests from all over the world since opening in 2006. We give 5% of our profits to the local community.

Essaouira Airport is 20 minutes’ drive, with Marrakech around 2.5 hours and Agadir 3.5 hours away.
